I have used twitter basically since it came out. I followed my other friends that had twitter. There really was not too much to look at, it was kind of basic as there was just short comments being posted about random things. Since it has came out, Twitter has blown up and now there are so many useful and important things posted on Twitter. I can use twitter in my career because I can have my students to set up a twitter and follow my class where I can post important information.

The digital divide is the gap between people that have access to technology and those that do not. It affects students in schools because it prevents some teachers from using technology in their classroom when the technology can extremely benefit the students. It also affects students success because most every school requires you to use a computer at some point, whether it be to print a report or create a power point. Students that do not have a computer at home must find a way to get to the library and complete the assignment. This can be a problem because some kids may have to work after school to help pay bills and cannot afford a car or have parents that will drop them off at a library. When I am a teacher I must take a survey to see how many kids have access to a computer and those that do not. I can then make sure we only do computer based assignments in class and offer alternatives to power points, like oral presentation.

One academic software I will bring to my class is Edmodo. This is a website that allows students, parents, and teachers to all interact (separately). This is extremely beneficial because it is very straight forward and there are no real communication issues that could happen. I also plan on using Kahoot! in my classes. This allows students to play games based on your subject or create your game. This is good for students to use their creativity to come up with a game that connect concepts, and it also helps the students study. I want my students to be involved and activity learning through fun outlets.

  1. What if some students do not check out twitter very often and miss your information?

ILP Design- Infographic

For this project I decided to do a infographic. I used a website called Piktochart . I made a welcome page for my made up class (11th grade social studies). I used a theme and edited it how I wanted. It was extremely easy and looks very professional. I plan to use this in the future.  I even included a spot for the students to write three goals and get the paper signed by their parent. You can check out the project here !

I have been very impressed with Diigo and the overall idea and function of it. I really do not like reading things online because I cannot highlight and annotate, however, Diigo allows me to do that. I now use Diigo everyday throughout my classwork. I use it to highlight and take notes on any important information I encounter. I also like how I can bookmark the website I am looking at and have all my articles in one place. I also enjoy the group or social aspect of it. This is great for any classes, even book clubs or extracurricular activities. This is good because people can read different articles and share the important info with the people in their group, it is great for sharing info. PowerPoint can help analyze, evaluate, and apply information, as Bloom Taxonomy states. PowerPoint is a great supplemental tool to give a visual of the information you are given. PowerPoint should not be used as just a bunch of slides with a bunch of words and people speaking directly off of the sl...

"The Flipped Classroom" is a very interesting concept. It essentially is a learner-central method, it focuses more on the learner and it can help explore topics in more depth. There is usually educational technologies used outside of the classroom for supplemental support. Online lectures and learning resources are used and then what is learned outside of the classroom is applied in critical thinking activities and group work/discussions in class. Open Educational Resources (OER) are resources that are publicly licensed, which means they are free to use. This makes me smile. Learning is so important however, it can cost a myriad amount of money. This is terrible because we are keeping knowledge and resources from people who cannot afford it, and the population that would benefit the most from learning. I found this resource titled OER Commons, you can check out the website here . This is a public digital library of open educational resources. The part I checked out is the l...
