"The Flipped Classroom" is a very interesting concept. It essentially is a learner-central method, it focuses more on the learner and it can help explore topics in more depth. There is usually educational technologies used outside of the classroom for supplemental support. Online lectures and learning resources are used and then what is learned outside of the classroom is applied in critical thinking activities and group work/discussions in class.
Open Educational Resources (OER) are resources that are publicly licensed, which means they are free to use. This makes me smile. Learning is so important however, it can cost a myriad amount of money. This is terrible because we are keeping knowledge and resources from people who cannot afford it, and the population that would benefit the most from learning. I found this resource titled OER Commons, you can check out the website here. This is a public digital library of open educational resources. The part I checked out is the lesson plans. Everything written here is free to use and people come and change templets to fit what they need and you can really see what other people are doing and collaborate. Collaboration is essential in learning, people learn from just talking to one another. I believe there are some truly valuable resources here.
I am really proud of how my two powerpoint assignments came out. I learned a lot of vaulable things, not even just for teaching, but whenever I need to present something in a formal setting. One skill in particular was saving it as a show. This is extremely helpful if you are sending a powerpoint instead of presenting it. It also keeps your work from being stolen. I also thought crating the buttons and all of the navigation on the slides was very cool. I beleive I will use these skills in the future.
