Jordan blog set-up (Introduction)

Hello! My name is Jordan Neeld and I am a senior here at The Florida State University. I am originally from Philadelphia but moved to Jupiter, Florida when I was 14. I have a dog, he is a Black lab and Great Dane mix. I have enjoyed all of my years here at FSU and I cannot believe it is my last year here.

Besides playing the educational games on the computer during computer lab during elementary school I really do not have much experience playing educational video games. I have however taken a class on computer gaming programs such as SCRATCH. I also play a lot of Fortnite, which I believe to be a very competitive strategy game which can help get the brain working. Most people, including my girlfriend, would disagree but I believe playing Fortnite before doing assignments can help me get my brain sharp before doing the assignment.

I hope to learn about different systems teachers might use to present information to the students and different systems to interact with the students all together. I believe this class is important because teachers should try their best to adapt to new technologies because they can be extremely helpful and beneficial to the students. I am not currently pursing a teaching career but I am interested in changing education policy so I am hoping to get a good background on how the actual classroom runs so I can make improvements where there needs to be. I believe this class will help me better make policy decisions to benefit the education system.

  1. Fortnite is fun!!! Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to polish my skills and test out strategies... I kinda quitted it.
It looks like you have a focus on education systems and policies instead of teaching at a micro level. Would love to hear more about it from this perspective throughout the semester.
One side note: You may consider to change the color scheme. Dark green does not stand out from the green background. I am having great trouble in reading and typing up my comments.

ILP Design- Infographic

For this project I decided to do a infographic. I used a website called Piktochart . I made a welcome page for my made up class (11th grade social studies). I used a theme and edited it how I wanted. It was extremely easy and looks very professional. I plan to use this in the future.  I even included a spot for the students to write three goals and get the paper signed by their parent. You can check out the project here !

I have been very impressed with Diigo and the overall idea and function of it. I really do not like reading things online because I cannot highlight and annotate, however, Diigo allows me to do that. I now use Diigo everyday throughout my classwork. I use it to highlight and take notes on any important information I encounter. I also like how I can bookmark the website I am looking at and have all my articles in one place. I also enjoy the group or social aspect of it. This is great for any classes, even book clubs or extracurricular activities. This is good because people can read different articles and share the important info with the people in their group, it is great for sharing info. PowerPoint can help analyze, evaluate, and apply information, as Bloom Taxonomy states. PowerPoint is a great supplemental tool to give a visual of the information you are given. PowerPoint should not be used as just a bunch of slides with a bunch of words and people speaking directly off of the sl...

"The Flipped Classroom" is a very interesting concept. It essentially is a learner-central method, it focuses more on the learner and it can help explore topics in more depth. There is usually educational technologies used outside of the classroom for supplemental support. Online lectures and learning resources are used and then what is learned outside of the classroom is applied in critical thinking activities and group work/discussions in class. Open Educational Resources (OER) are resources that are publicly licensed, which means they are free to use. This makes me smile. Learning is so important however, it can cost a myriad amount of money. This is terrible because we are keeping knowledge and resources from people who cannot afford it, and the population that would benefit the most from learning. I found this resource titled OER Commons, you can check out the website here . This is a public digital library of open educational resources. The part I checked out is the l...
